Every once in a while I like to spoil my already spoiled dogs. I really enjoyed making Happy Birthday Peanut Butter Cupcakes for Hazel the Pug’s first birthday. Today we were going to a friend’s house to have a doggie play date. He has a pug and Chihuahua mix of his own, plus two foster pugs. I decided to try a new dog treat recipe and to use our cute dogs as my test subjects. All of them gobbled them up and we stored the remaining cupcakes in the refrigerator for future use. Pure pumpkin is very good for dogs and helps with their digestive track, and what dog doesn’t like peanut butter? The original recipe for these cupcakes came from http://betterwithbutter.com/happy-birthday-boof/.
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 Egg
- 1/3 cup Peanut Butter (natural PB is best, but I wanted to use up our other PB first)
- 2/3 cup Pumpkin Puree (the only ingredients listed on the can is pumpkin, not added sugars)
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 cup Water
Step 1: Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Mix the flour and baking soda together in a medium-sized bowl.
Step 3: Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. In the well, drop in the egg, peanut butter, pumpkin, vegetable oil and water.
Step 4: Fold in the ingredients until well combined.
Step 5: Spray the tray of your choice. I choose a mini cupcake pan. Fill about 3/4 of the way.
Step 6: Bake 10-15 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Step 7: Let the doggies Eat and Enjoy!
“Pwuuzeeee Momma give us tweeetsss!”
Sookie the Beagador (Beagle/Lab) was being very patient, but she wanted it sooo bad! 🙂 She looks like a crocodile snapping up the mini cupcake.
Hazel the Pug loved sniffing the cupcake before chowing down.
