How to Peel and Cut a Butternut Squash

This is another how-to tutorial. I thought it was important to add because I will be making quite a bit of things with squash, especially this wonderful pasta-goat cheese-squash dinner (OMG it is delicious!). To peel and cut the squash was actually an easy thing to do if you have a sharp knife and a good potato-peeler. Let’s get started.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Butternut Squash (about 2 lbs)
Step 1: Cut off 1/4 inch off the bottom and the top of the butternut squash.
Step 2: Peel off the outer layer of skin and discard.
Step 3: Cut the squash in half.
Step 4: Using a spoon, scoop out the strings and seeds (you can discard all of the junk or save the seeds to plant/eat later)
Step 5: Cut the squash into four pieces, preferably the neck from the main body.
Step 6: Cut each piece into thick strips (the thickness is up to you).
Step 7: Now cut them into cubes.
Step 8: Cook and enjoy 🙂
