Pancakes from Scratch

I woke up this morning craving pancakes and discovering that my box version was gone from the cabinet. I was determined to eat some anyway. I looked up on for a recipe and I am so glad I did. My tummy is full with fantastic fluffy round disks of taste bud pleasure.


  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • dash of Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 tablespoons Melted Butter

Note: This recipe makes about 12 medium-sized pancakes.

Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk the buttermilk and egg until smooth.

Step 3: Stir in the melted butter into the small bowl.

Step 4: Pour the small bowl contents (egg mixture) into the large bowl (flour mixture) and mix until well combined.

Step 5: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. (My pan is so old that it needs some butter spray).

Step 6: Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup, pour pancake batter  on to the hot skillet.

Step 7: To know when to flip, pay attention to little bubbles rising to the surface of the pancake. Flip to cook other side.

Step 8: Eat and Enjoy!


  1. I do agree with all of the ideas you’ve presented in your post. They are really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very short for starters. Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.
